Biden-Harris Administration Strike a Deal with Mexico to Bus Migrants through Mexico Using Asylum App

The Biden=Harris administration’s latest immigration initiative, developed in partnership with the Mexican government, raises serious concerns about the integrity of U.S. border security and immigration policy.

This new program, dubbed the “Secure Emerging Mobility Corridor,” appears to be a thinly veiled attempt to facilitate illegal immigration rather than address the root causes of the ongoing border crisis.

Under this plan, migrants in southern Mexico will be provided with free bus transportation, meals, and security as they travel to the U.S. border for asylum appointments scheduled through the CBP-One application. While both governments tout this will help manage migrant flow and offer protection from the cartels, this approach seems to prioritize the convenience of potential illegal immigrants over the security interests of American citizens.

The program will operate from two cities in southern Mexico: Villahermosa, Tabasco, and Tapachula, Chiapas. Migrants will be granted a 20-day immigration permit to travel through Mexico legally. This raises questions about the vetting process and the potential for abuse of these temporary permits.

Perhaps most troubling is the expansion of the CBP-One asylum application system. The Mexican National Institute of Migration announced that 1,450 migrants are being released into the United States daily under this program. Even more concerning, these individuals are not required to pass a credible fear interview, which has traditionally been a crucial first step in the asylum process.

Critics argue that this approach essentially turns Mexico into a staging ground for illegal entry into the United States. Instead of addressing the root causes of migration or strengthening border security, the Biden-Harris administration appears to be facilitating a more organized form of illegal immigration.

The timing of this announcement is particularly questionable. It comes just a week after meetings between Mexican authorities and Biden administration representatives, where they agreed to expand the geographic region in Mexico where migrants can request CBP-One asylum appointments. This expansion to southern Mexico seems designed to accelerate the flow of migrants northward.

Proponents of the plan might argue that it provides a more orderly process for asylum seekers. However, this ignores the fundamental issue of whether these individuals truly qualify for asylum or are economic migrants seeking to circumvent legal immigration channels.

The program also fails to address migrants seeking job opportunities in large Mexican cities. By focusing on transporting migrants to the U.S. border rather than addressing these issues, the policy encourages more people to undertake the journey northward rather than stay in Mexico.

This initiative raises serious questions about Kamala Harris’ stated commitment to border security and the rule of law. By essentially providing a government-sponsored shuttle service for potential illegal immigrants, the administration seems to be prioritizing the interests of non-citizens over the safety and sovereignty of the United States.

The “Secure Emerging Mobility Corridor” may prove to be less about security and more about facilitating a new wave of illegal immigration, further straining U.S. resources and communities already overwhelmed with the ongoing border crisis.
