Biden Stokes Election Fears, Casting Doubt on Peaceful Transition: ‘Not Confident at All’

President Biden’s recent comments about the upcoming election have raised eyebrows, as he appears to be laying groundwork for potential unrest.

In his first interview since leaving the 2024 race, Biden expressed serious doubts about a peaceful transfer of power if former President Trump loses.

Speaking to CBS News, Biden stated, “If Trump loses, I’m not confident at all.” This stark statement came after a brief slip where he initially said he wouldn’t be confident “if Trump wins.”

Biden’s rhetoric seems designed to paint Trump and his supporters as a threat to democracy. He referenced Trump’s recent comments about a potential “bloodbath,” though notably, Trump was speaking about economic concerns in the auto industry, not political violence.

“He means what he says. We don’t take him seriously. He means it,” Biden warned, seemingly trying to instill a sense of urgency and fear in viewers.

The president then pivoted to local election districts, suggesting that Trump supporters are attempting to influence vote counting. “They’re putting people in place in states where they’re gonna count the votes, right?” Biden said, without offering specific evidence of wrongdoing.

This focus on potential election turmoil comes at a time of significant change in the Democratic party. Biden himself recently stepped away from the 2024 race, endorsing his former running mate, Vice President Kamala Harris. However, Harris has yet to give any interviews since becoming the Democratic nominee.

The timing of Biden’s dire warnings is noteworthy. His exit from the race followed a debate performance that left many Democrats concerned about their chances in November. Now, as Harris prepares to face off against Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio, Biden’s comments seem aimed at rallying support through fear rather than policy.
