Esta TerBlanche, best known for her role in “All My Children,” has died at 51.
Her passing on July 19 in North Hollywood marks the end of a career that touched fans across generations.
TerBlanche’s path to stardom began in South Africa, where she hosted a kids’ show and won Miss Teen South Africa in 1991.
But it was her portrayal of Gillian Andrassy on “All My Children” that made her a household name.
From 1997 to 2001, she appeared in over 100 episodes, becoming a fan favorite.

Her impact on the show was so strong that she returned as a ghost in 2011, long after her character’s death.
This comeback was emotional for TerBlanche and her co-star Cameron Mathison.
In her last interview with Soap Opera Digest, she recalled, “When we saw each other, we both started bawling. Back then, we hadn’t seen each other for years, so it was such a touching moment for us.”
Beyond her acting skills, TerBlanche was known for her kindness.
