Massive Mob of Violent Looters Take Over an Autozone Store in Los Angeles

A mob of over 100 people looted an AutoZone in South Los Angeles early Monday morning, tearing through the store and escaping before police arrived. Authorities are investigating whether the incident is tied to an illegal street takeover, just like a similar looting at the same location last year.

Key Facts:

  • A crowd of more than 100 looters stormed an AutoZone in South LA around 4:00 a.m. Monday.
  • The incident took place on the 9800 block of South Hoover Street.
  • Looters tore down fences, smashed windows, and emptied display cases.
  • Police are investigating whether it was connected to a street takeover.
  • The same store was looted in 2024, causing $67,000 in losses.

The Rest of The Story:

A radio call went out to LAPD about burglary suspects actively stealing merchandise at the AutoZone.

Police say around 20 suspects were seen removing items when the call was made, though total participants numbered well over 100.

Footage from the Citizen App showed individuals ripping through a metal fence and breaking into the store.

They shattered glass, broke display cases, and looted car parts and other goods.

The suspects fled before officers arrived on the scene.

Detectives are investigating a possible connection to a street takeover, which involves blocking intersections and engaging in reckless driving or other crimes.

This is the second time this AutoZone has been hit — the 2024 incident also followed a suspected street takeover.

That looting caused around $67,000 in merchandise loss, but led to multiple arrests thanks to security footage.

Commentary:

This level of lawlessness didn’t come out of nowhere.

It’s the product of weak leadership from Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom.

Their policies and rhetoric have created an environment where mobs feel emboldened to loot without fear of consequences.

These elected officials have discouraged cooperation with ICE, undermined law enforcement, and refused to support meaningful deterrents.

When the government won’t stand with the people trying to enforce the law, criminals take the streets.

This AutoZone was hit just last year.

Nothing changed because city and state leaders refused to act.

The cycle repeats because the same policies are still in place.

We hope every looter in that video is identified, arrested, and serves real time in jail.

But it shouldn’t stop there.

If anyone organized or funded this attack, they should be prosecuted under federal conspiracy and racketeering charges.

The DOJ should look into whether elected officials helped encourage this behavior through direct action or neglect.

California can’t afford to keep letting political games come before public safety.

The Bottom Line:

South LA saw another AutoZone looted by a massive mob, with signs pointing to an organized street takeover.

It’s a repeat of last year’s failure by leadership, where criminals went unchecked.

The law must be enforced — and those in power who allow chaos to reign must answer for it.

Enough is enough.
