Mysterious Monolith Appears in the Desert Near Las Vegas

A mysterious, shiny structure has popped up in the desert north of Las Vegas, and it’s got everyone talking, according to a new report out from Fox News.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s search and rescue unit stumbled upon the monolith near Gass Peak over the weekend, and they couldn’t resist sharing a pic on X (formerly Twitter).

“We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water… but check this out!” the department wrote, along with a snapshot of the gleaming object standing out against the desert backdrop.

This isn’t the first time these monoliths have appeared out of nowhere.

Similar structures have been spotted in various locations around the world in recent years. In March, a hiker named Craig Muir captured footage of a “UFO”-like monolith on a hillside near the border of Wales and England.

Muir, who hikes in the area often, was shocked, saying, “I come up here most days and I’ve never seen this before. It almost looks like a UFO.”

Reports of similar structures have popped up in Belgium, Romania, and even on the Isle of Wight, an island in the English Channel.

The first monolith to make headlines was discovered in November 2020 by Utah state wildlife employees who were counting sheep from a helicopter.

The pilot, Bret Hutchings, described it as “about the strangest thing that I’ve come across out there in all my years of flying,” according to local news station KSL-TV.

At the time, authorities said the puzzling object had been installed in a remote area with “no obvious indication” of who put it there, as stated in a press release from the Utah Department of Public Safety.

Just a week later, another monolith appeared in Atascadero, California, north of Los Angeles.

While a New Mexico artist collective claimed responsibility for the installations years ago, the recent resurgence of these structures has everyone curious and speculating once again.

Sure, it’s unlikely that aliens are behind these monoliths, but their recurring appearance is still pretty cool and has captured the imagination of people all over the world.

The sleek, otherworldly design and the seemingly random locations where they pop up add to the allure and intrigue surrounding these peculiar structures.

As authorities and the public try to figure out the purpose and origin of these monoliths, one thing is for sure: their presence has injected a sense of wonder and excitement into our everyday lives.
