Homeland Security Inspector General Opens Investigation Into Secret Service’s Handling of Trump Campaign Rally

The Secret Service is under fire for extreme incompetence, or worse, after a shocking assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally.

The July 13 incident has kicked off multiple investigations and raised alarming questions about security measures.

The Department of Homeland Security’s Inspector General has launched an investigation into the Secret Service’s handling of the event.

Their goal? To evaluate how the agency failed to secure Trump’s rally. President Biden has also called for an independent review.

At the heart of the matter: How did a 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, manage to climb a building and open fire on Trump and the crowd?

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is rightfully taking heat for the security lapse.

In a CNN interview, she stated, “The Secret Service is totally responsible for the design and implementation and the execution of the site.”

Cheatle insisted that no security was pulled from the rally for other events.

Her explanation for leaving the rooftop the shooter used unsecured has drawn massive criticism.

Cheatle absurdly told ABC News, “That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof.” She said they opted to secure the building from inside instead.

This ridiculous excuse has angered many.

Social media users have called it a “total BS excuse,” arguing that a sloped roof shouldn’t have prevented proper security for such a high-profile event.

The obvious question is how can the Department of Homeland Security effectively investigate itself? We expect a whitewashed investigation that will tell the public practically nothing.

Further we expect no one to face accountability for what happened, which is a key reason no one trusts the government anymore.
