Nicole Shanahan, Kennedy’s running mate, revealed in a recent podcast interview that their campaign is seriously considering suspending their efforts to support former President Donald Trump.

This potential alliance between Kennedy and Trump is far from a mere political sideshow. It represents a seismic shift that could significantly impact the election’s outcome, potentially altering the balance of power in Trump’s favor.

The crux of this unexpected turn lies in the campaign’s stated goal of preventing a Kamala Harris presidency. “We are taking a very serious look at making sure that the people that have corrupted our fair and free democracy do not end up in office,” Shanahan explained on the “Impact Theory” podcast.

Shanahan laid out two possible paths for the Kennedy campaign: either remain in the race to bolster the legitimacy of independent candidates or suspend their run and endorse Trump. The latter option, she suggests, could provide Trump with the crucial support needed to defeat Harris in November.

Kennedy outlined his grievances with Harris in a social media post claiming that “VP Harris’s is the Party of Big Tech, Big Pharma and Wall Street.” He also hinted at making a significant move stating, “I have no plans to endorse Kamala Harris for President. I do have a plan to defeat her.”

The consideration of such a move stems partly from concerns about being labeled a “spoiler candidate.” Shanahan addressed this directly, stating, “We didn’t want to be a spoiler. We wanted to win. We wanted a fair shot.” However, the realities of vote splitting in a tight race have forced a reevaluation of their strategy.

Adding another layer to this political drama, Shanahan leveled serious accusations against the Democratic National Committee (DNC). She claimed the DNC has engaged in various tactics to undermine their campaign.

“They have banned us, shadow-banned us, kept us off stages, manipulated polls, used lawfare against us, sued us in every possible state, they’ve even planted insiders into our campaign to disrupt it and to create actual legal issues for us,” she said.

However, Shanahan framed it as a strategic necessity, saying, “We walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump and, you know, we walk away from that and explain to our base why we’re making this decision.”

Both Kennedy and Shanahan have vehemently denied reports of reaching out to Harris’ team about a potential Cabinet position, dismissing such claims as “fake news” and media spin. This denial further cements the impression of a campaign at odds with the current Democratic leadership.

Former President Trump stated he would welcome Kennedy’s endorsement and he would consider a position for him should he win the presidency.

“I would love that endorsement because I’ve always liked him… I like him a lot, I respect him a lot, I probably would if something like that would happen. He’s a very different kind of a guy, a very smart guy, and yeah, I would be honored by that endorsement, certainly,” Trump said.
