WATCH: NY AG James Met With Boos and Chants of ‘Trump, Trump, Trump’ at Firefighter Event

At a firefighters’ ceremony on Thursday, New York Attorney General Letitia James was met with boos and chants of “Trump! Trump! Trump!” as she took the stage to honor the swearing-in of the first African-American woman chaplain of the FDNY, the Rev. Pamela Holmes, and other first responders.

James addressed the crowd, saying, “Oh c’mon, we’re in a house of God. Simmer down. Thank you for getting it out of your system.” Despite the disruptions, she continued with her remarks, paying tribute to the first responders.

The crowd’s behavior was later condemned by Chief of Department John Hodgens, who said, “Today’s ceremony was about one thing: the accomplishments of the members being promoted. The members whose behavior distracted from that celebration were an embarrassment and not befitting of the world’s best fire department.”

In her speech, James acknowledged the booing firefighters and expressed that she prays for them as well.

The ceremony was meant to celebrate the achievements of the first responders, but the rowdy behavior of some in the crowd detracted from the celebration, according to the Chief.
